What I happened to notice during the morning walk yesterday were, a striped lynx spider on a jasmine blossom, a purple sunbird in search of nectar, a water hen in the land little away form the wetland and a domestic brown and white hen on its morning feeding walk!
These are ordinary sights, but what held my attention was how a spider and birds are heavily dependent on the environment for their 'daily bread'.
They are dependent on how we keep the environment.
I remember a house in a village with colourful croton plants around it in summer, while the other adjacent houses had dried grass around the houses. A boy who studies in seventh standard watered the plants along with gathering water for the family from the village well, which was about three hundred meters away. He received a citation from the local panchayat for his environmental awareness.
The small things we do, to take care of our environment go a long way in make it hospitable !
The striped lynx spider was still present in the jasmine flower this morning.
The environment is a home for many.
It is therefore an extension of our home!
When I notice, a Tree pie and a Cormorant have their sun bath and body grooming almost daily in the same tree, I know some places are like their home.
I wish humans would view the environment as a home, shared between us and all the other living beings!
