Looking to move!

During the fifteen minutes, I got an opportunity to watch these two Bulbuls perched in our courtyard at day break, I got an introduction to the way Bulbuls plan for their flight path.

Each of the photograph above shows a particular body posture, expression on their faces and different directions they choose to look to have a pre-view of the flight path!

There came a change in their look and body movements after they intently looked at each other as seen in the 11th photograph.

One of them gave a bird call to which I could hear in a distance a response. There was an exchange of three or four bird calls, probably sounding similar. It was following that, there was a movement and change of direction of look of one Bulbul. That flew away to the direction from where they received the reciprocal bird calls. Soon the other too left in that direction.

I do not know what to make out of this process, the Bulbuls used to choose its flight path for the morning. I have noticed a pair of Bulbuls perched in the same site on a few occasions in the morning. It was this prompted me to wait and watch them on one day, to get an introduction to their behaviour and movement preparation.

One factor is more or less clear as I noticed the bird calls, one of them would give and wait for a while, before flying away. It looks like that they look out for others in their species and fly to join them.

I have a reinforcement of this thought as Bulbuls are used to call for other birds when they are at the feeding station in our garden. Other birds gather others from the neighbourhood at the feeding station.

The two bulbuls choose the flight path to be near other birds of their species. They gravitate towards others.

They have a, neighbour friendly instinct!

But they are not racial!

Can be this spoken about the United States of America or Israel, who use pressure to make the Palestinians leave Gaza to go to Africa or one of the Arab countries! I wonder how the president of the USA can ever make a unilateral announcement of having taken over Gaza, when it was the land of Palestinians for over fifty years!

Even birds receive each other at the feeding station!

Some nations of the world seem to have a sinister plan to annexe the land that belongs to others and impose the right of ownership! The Russian invasion of the Ukrainian territory is one such instance.

Some of these countries now becoming authoritarian were known to be leaders in giving and supporting those who live in marginalised situations in different parts of the world!

Has lure for wealth, authority and control displaced the Good Samaritan heart of caring and attending to the needs of the wounded!

I feel perplexed and stay wondering....! When the richest man on earth, who is the right hand man of the president of the United States of America, gave a 'Hitler salute' in public on the day the new president of USA took over, it rang an alarm bell about what can follow!

I come back to the Bulbuls. They announce a message of cordiality and fraternity! Often it is the voice of the weak that would displace the voice of the mighty!

A political party who lost election in the state assembly poll in Delhi recently, came to fame ten years ago, because of its anti-corruption stance. Today, the party is under investigation for multiple corrupt practices. That party survived by blaming other parties of corruption. I feel alarmed by a low threshold toward moral uprightness in its attitude to itself!

The avian behaviour in the photos above invites us to be inclusive, altruistic and mindful of others!
