The above photographs of different flowers and fruits in our garden, fascinated me. They were present in different parts of our garden. They were present without making any loud announcement of their presence. They were quietly present.
This form of presence, quiet and colourful or fruitful, is one way of being present to others. The flowers and fruits offer themselves to others.
Being present is an offering!
The flowers and fruits are present in a garden in a giving gesture!
At the end of a walk in the garden, this thought returns almost every day!
The garden gives; we take what it offers.
When a Barbet, or a Bulbul finds a fruit in the garden, it engages in loud bird calls before feeding on the fruit. Their mindfulness to share with others is in striking contrast to human inclination to hoard, possess and accumulate without mindfulness of the needs of others.
A garden which has an assortment of plants and trees offers it for others! The avians survive because gardens offer their daily bread! They take what they need and invite other birds to do the same.
A lesson and an example!
