Friendly call!

I heard a new bird call from the nutmeg tree opposite our main door. It was a visitor in our garden. Its bird call was musical and increased in loudness and duration with each successive bird call. It flew away in a few seconds.

On hearing the same bird call, I located it on the 'pulpit'.   Most birds use the dry twigs at the top of a nutmeg tree in the morning for sun bating and grooming. It was steadfast in its call. I knew therefore it is a call for its mate.

Another bird of its species appeared on the pulpit intently listening to the birdsong. I thought that the intent was for the bird to stay on and reciprocate.

But the body language of the female bird became less engaging. It turned away from looking at the singing bird.

When the female was not longer engaging, the male stopped its bird call and a few seconds later the female bird flew away.

The male bird resumed its call and sounded even more melodious and intentional. I thought it was calling heartily.

The last two pictures is the sight of a crest fallen bird, sitting silently and lost!

I understand many birds have the same misfortune. It takes several efforts before a male bird can find its pair. Sometimes it travels long distances or comes to the same site and repeats its ritual.

It stayed on till a Magpie Robin arrived at the pulpit!

The birds do not give up in seeking for friendships and courtships. They move from place to place till it has found its pair. Sometimes the female birds need coaxing and enticing overtures from the male bird.

Life is such an adventure! We can set out on our mission. It is others who make it bear fruit. The sower sows and it is the soil which sprouts the seed.

Do good all the time and it shall bear fruits in due course!
