A symbol for married life!

Anna and I were invited to witness an engagement ceremony of a  couple! We were blessed by the experience of watching a symbol that the couple getting ready to get married, demonstrated jointly!

The picked up the two jars, both with sand, but in two different colours,  and filled the bigger jar in the middle, during which process, the master of ceremony mentioned that the sand of two colours interspersed with each other in one jar is a symbol of how they are called to become 'one by integrating with each other'.

It is the first time we have watched such an act of symbolism. This spoke to us a lot about the journey in marriage of the two becoming one, by bringing what they have individually, into marriage from two traditions of experiences into one by emptying each other to welcome and embrace the richness of a colourful oneness!

The two identities are no more separate, but is one intimate inseparable identity of love, faith and hope! The two although are different in roles, functions and responsibilities are one, in calling, equal in position and vocation of marriage.

We wish this couple abundance of this 'integration' as the two become a lager one !
