I heard sometime back that the best tasty mangoes come from Bihar! Amy and Arpit brought some from Madhepura, north Bihar. I too feel that perception to be true.
During this season, we tasted about twenty varieties of mangoes, each with its own distinct of appearance, colour, odour, taste and pulp!
There was a display of 120 varieties of mango in the 'Mango festival' !
Just as there are 'tea tasters', there are also 'mango tasters' who help the agricultural scientists to create hybrid varieties.
Humans are always into creating something better for themselves-the innovative spirit, which is a generational feature! Whether service or profit is the motive is an issue for debate! In the recent years there is also another philosophical question, which the Noble laureate, Dr Amrytia Sen has raised, ‘ is aggressive economic pursuit of gain and plenty increasing the gap between the ‘haves and have nots. Are we creating a culture of greed rather provide for the needs of others’?
