Christmas cheer 2018

In another few days, the Christmas Cheer sharing event would happen.

Yesterday, as we sat together, in the morning and evening, I sensed a spirit of enthusiasm and fellowship while the department was preparing for the Christmas cheer 2018, for the last three months.

I continue to be amazed at the collection of handmade display articles that have been created by each person in the team. The design, style, finish and aesthetic appeal amazed me as I took time to taken in the thoughtfulness and patience with which each of these was created. Most of this was done during the in between times while the regular engagement with children remained fully attended to.

Six years of the unit are behind us and this is the fifth Christmas cheer. We would use the donations received from this, to support families affected by floods in August, 2018 for the care of their children.

We had the third clinical meeting which we organise once in two weeks to bring together all professionals who are involved in caring for children at the hospital. It is emerging as a valuable academic activity. It is a good start for sound academic dialogue.

Susan co-ordinates the Christmas cheer event and Hanna the clinical meetings. It is refreshing to see the visitor-observer, Ms Imlibenla Mongro, clinical psychologist from CIHSR, Dimapur working with the team to offer her help. Feby, a speech therapist, who joined us a week ago, is also fully immersed in the preparation.

It is a joyful time in the department as we prepare for the Christmas cheer.
