Its search was not in vain. It did find one or two insects to feed on!
A bird does not have a predictable day ahead of it. It searches for food and water to live on. Its flight movements are associated with some habits- flying from place to place to remain flight ready, visit places that are hospitable, look out for other birds to socialise, find feed and secure a safe shelter!
It is a mystery how most birds excepting for the breeding season live in the open space in their hide outs in trees or spaces in built in areas or hollow of a tree trunk or in the ground !
The freedom of movement is what the avians seek after!
The desire to settle down in a comfortable setting is the human instinct.
The house, property, and all that get associated with them become an occupying thought!
That replaces the purpose or vocation of living!
While it was raining in the evening, I found a senior citizen on foot with a packet in his hand walking steadily, although partly drenched. He was going to visit another senior citizen who was ailing and lived alone half a kilometre away to give him the supper packet. He has been doing it for three months now. He too lived alone and cooks his meal by himself. His cheerful disposition and earnestness surprised me.
While I was with Daphne on her walk, I found a person walking, swaying from side to side under the effect of alcohol. He stopped to ask with a slurred speech, if I had some money to lend! I differed any long conversation with him as he was out of sorts to talk coherently. I felt disturbed and confused!
The two contrasting sights in the street! One person living mindful of others and another person drowning himself in his habit to live a reduced life!
A small bird lives purposefully! It lives finding what it needs! It announces a peaceful way of being and behaving!
One unthinkable decision that the president of the United States of America took last year was to suspend all aid for philanthropy! That was a statement of social dissociation from being involved with people who live under stressful situations. The slogan, 'America for Americans' got so stretched that even Howard University is banned from having overseas students in its roll ! Now the president of the USA honouring the Pakistan Chief of Army at a luncheon gathering in White House, gives another message of approval of all that the Pakistani terrorists did in killing 21 tourists visiting India occupied Kashmir! Is he seeking Pakistani support against Iran! America as a nation was a shining star of fairness, justice and a home for fulfilment of aspirations of the global community! It is now getting reduced to be a place of partisan thinking and indulgence in wealth creation!
I hope voice of reason and hope will come from some corner at a time of such disappointment and reason!
For me the a small bird, a Grey Tit finding its feed on a rainy day, brought hope about another way of living- receiving gratefully and living mindfully of others!
