Let me send a flower each to all the professionals at Developmental Paediatrics and Child Neurology and the domestic staff who prepare to restart the on site consultation, neuro-developmental appraisal and support services, after a break of nine months from 15 Fe 2021.
As they restart the regular activities, it seems to me that there is a momentum of preparation with mixed emotions. On one side, it is a demanding exercise to restart with abundant precautions related to the COVID protocols; on the other side, the professionals look forward to it because of the opportunity to be involved with children and families to exercise their skills. It is a service to parents and an occasion for the professionals to feel fulfilled.
I feel grateful to all the professionals and domestic staff for their patience and extra-ordinary resilience during a difficult season, which got prolonged beyond expectation.
Let me offer a vase of flowers below to Ms Tinu Paul, who was in the office from the beginning of the department and has been now assigned to another department. She looked after all matters related to booking consultations for children and welcoming them, which is now taken over by the central patient booking facility in the hospital. I want to acknowledge her enthusiastic presence in the department and contributions for the up keep of the office. I remember her and her services gratefully. She will do well wherever she is located.
We restart to catch up; it will be a long journey with some risks and challenges. However, there is a hope because of the resolve to move forward. What builds a group to be a team is self giving and mutual regard. I look forward to more of it in the department!
