The wood peckers were flying between coconut palms on a cloudy morning, obviously seeking for the insects hidden in the bark of the trunk of the coconut palm.
The ritual of climbing the palm is a sight to watch as most woodpeckers would climb encircling the palm in a clockwise movement. It pauses while feeding and ascends in a pursuit!
A wood pecker almost defies the force of gravity while it rests in between the ascend, stretching its body backward in an angle supporting itself on its spread out paws.
The sunbird perched in an adjoining tree, calling out in its loud tuneful way broke the silence, inviting the avians to their flight movements.
It was a delight to watch the morning outings of a pair of wood pecker, a sunbird, a Barbet and a squirrel in our garden, on a cloudy morning!
