The Christmas season is the time to remember the shepherds because it was to the shepherds, the news of the birth of Jesus was announced first!
Our neighbour, who is a college student is the shepherd to his sheep. I watched him lead the sheep to the green pasture yesterday! What a sight of thoughtfulness and interest in the wellness of the sheep, he carries with him! The sheep listened to his voice and followed him.
The shepherd defines the tone and tenor of the behaviour of the sheep.
I watched this sight delightfully and took time to converse with him. He seemed to know each sheep and its behaviour. He is therefore able to relate to each sheep according to its response pattern.
Those of us in a shepherding role needs to remember that knowing the sheep personally is the only way to make the sheep responsive!
