Shantha surprised me yesterday when she on suggestion of Shalini brought a bagful of carefully handcrafted learning materials for children. Shantha mentioned that she did all these on the suggestion of Rainu (both of them hold a candle in the last photo). Femy and Femine shared some of the learning materials they made for on-line learning support for children.
It was a celebration of creative talents and efforts in the afternoon, which ended in singing, the hymn, 'There shall be showers of blessings..'
I felt overwhelmed by this spontaneous and thoughtful quiet activity in the department about which I had no idea till yesterday afternoon. It was a surprise but delightful experience to turn the occasion to dedicate the efforts, towards the preparation for the 10th anniversary of the department which falls in September, 2021.
We have been through some difficulties in the department....the pandemic has added to the stress with all physical consultations and developmental support discontinued for a month now. The on-line services do not substitute them adequately.
During a recent contact with families of parents who visit us we realised that we have a role they attribute to us, in supporting their efforts to develop the skills of developmentally challenged children.
To see everyone in high spirit yesterday and to look forward to preparing for the 10th anniversary revived my spirit and restored hope of a new momentum in the department!
