What a sight on a Sunday morning!
Amidst the excitement of the 75th anniversary of the independence day, what held our attention in the golden hour of the morning was this Sunbird in our direct sight, waiting enough for me to get the camera.
This is a sight which took me to recall my early days of photography, when taking pictures was difficult especially of birds, as it involved adjusting aperture, exposure and focus in a short time. Now it is easier with the auto mode of the camera, giving good results.
The Sunbird looked most impressive with its gentle array of colours well suited for its body shape and contour. Some birds are exquisite in their body complexion. This is one such bird.
It is after almost a month we spotted a sunbird in our garden as the rainy spell would have displaced them elsewhere.
It was a delight to see them in our garden. The hover around flowers for nectar. They arrive and depart quietly. It is the movement of the leaves of a bush which alert us of their presence.
That is a special way of existence. Quiet presence!
It has a metaphoric meaning for me ! As I get older, it is important to receive a slower pace and quieter presence! To stay content with that profile is not often easy as visibility and recognition were the features of earlier days in life.
The Sunbird's visit reminded me of the direction that I ought to accept as the way forward!
