When we bid farewell to Lekha two weeks back in the department of Developmental Paediatrics and Child Neurology, I felt grateful for every person who worked in the department. It was the fifth farewell in three years, all of them leaving on account of marriage or going overseas.
What is it which make such occasions special! We take time to recollect the contributions a person made to the department! Lekha being form the nursing background was the main planner and thinker for preparing the Hall of Residence to welcome children for short term stay.
Such times are also times of adjustment! To lose a colleague who was an anchor to the department leaves a void. At the same time it is important to remember that a person leaves the department better equipped and enabled.
I am glad that five 'missionaries' were 'formed' in the department, a significant role of any department interested in fostering human development potential can be grateful for!
