Towards a journey for peace!

I stayed pondering over this strange phenomenon of war in Ukraine, Gaza, and in the Indo-Pakistan border !

The first photo of the jasmine blossom is a picture of flowers falling off its stem after having lived thier life time.

The second photo is of buds ready to blossom and the third is of tender cashew nuts, which would grow to be fruits in few weeks.

Each day, we hear from the war prone areas of the number of human lives lost!

The story of lives denied to live!

We loose the human soul, when we legitimise harming others as our right!

There is a strong opinion against capital punishment even when one is a proven criminal!

A war is a weapon of violence! A war prospers only the merchandise of weapon industry!

A war is reactive response to violence. Violence begets violence!

We do not bring respite from violence by war!

We might be able to reduce violence by intense focus on social justice!

It is the wounded who intend to harm others!

We need a global action to attend to the emotionally or racially  wounded!

Twenty six tourists were shot in Kashmir valley by armed men two weeks ago! Their loves one live in loss and grief! The Indian army reacted to it by attacking terrorist training camps in Pakistan! Some lives were lost in that counter attack!

I hope the government of India will make a concession on their decision to suspend water supply to Pakistan! The effect of depleting people of Pakistan of water from the rivers would mean, farming is affected, food production is affected, food scarcity sets in; income from cultivation is compromised....is not water and food a normal requirement for life!

I hope that the objective of the government of India would stay confined to its expressed intent to counter terrorism and does not extent the objective to anything else even under pressure!

Will there be consensus and collaboration globally to practice social justice for all, to reduce the traction towards violent means of fighting for a cause!

Violence in any form does not usher in justice; peace initiatives might open windows of opportunities!

Mahatma Gandhi was a seeker of peace; Pope Francis was a peace messenger; Dali Lama is another peace persuader!

It is worth reflecting on how a country like Switzerland, with no permanent army, is a country which has had a long history of peaceful presence !

I share this flower above, in our garden, with all those 26 families who lost their loved ones in Kashmir two weeks ago! Their loss is a sorrowing experience for all of us.

I hope terrorism ceases and negotiation becomes the usual path!

I hope that the government of Pakistan and its Army would dissociate itself from any kind of support, sympathy or validation of those who perpetuate violence! I wish the civil political leadership of Pakistan would emerge strong and democracy would return to stay so that the governance is independent of the military's vested interests!
