Doing the little which is seminal !

After a spell of rain, what is common is that Butterflies return to the flowers.

The season of summer is not a favourable season for Butterflies to survive. Our garden has fewer butterflies than what we ordinarily find during the cooler months of the year.

We avoid using pesticides or herbicides. There are some plants in the garden which go bare when the caterpillars are in plenty!

The dragon flies and Butterflies are two indices of the biological health of a garden!

It is only as much as we think of them, a garden can become a home for them.

The dragonflies and Butterflies are small, silently present, and serene in behaviour. They are likely to be forgotten or overlooked while planning the rhythm of the garden, planting, transplanting, trimming, manuring or deseeding.

When it becomes difficult to walk in the garden because of the undergrowth, deseeding becomes imperative. Following that the dragon flies disappear for a while. Similarly after trimming of the flowering plants, the butterflies also migrate!

During the morning walk in the garden, I look out for Dragon flies and Butterflies to get a feed back of the wellness level of the garden for their comfort!

Some birds who feed on caterpillar are aggressive feeders. That is another challenge !

A garden is a home only as much as there is deliberate attention given to the least in the 'family of its inhabitants'!

Another index of the wellness of the garden life is to go by the presence of mosquitoes. It is when we notice mosquitoes we look out for any pooling of water in any corner of the garden! For most part of the year, we are free of mosquitoes !

The plants thrive in the garden, when it is tended to be a home for them!

Children thrive in our families, when we nurture the home to be a garden of life for them! Some children need more attention because of their special needs! A family who visited us yesterday had a delightful story to tell us about the immense gain their child received, when both parents made provisions to attend to his special needs.
